Inlay / Onlay
Inlays and Onlays are ceramic or composite prosthetic pieces that replace a missing or defective part of the tooth while keeping it alive. They are an alternative to high-volume resins, allowing more living matter to be preserved without the need for a more mutilating prosthesis.
They are produced in the dental laboratory or by computer-assisted manufacturing.
The aesthetic result is optimal, with a shade very close to that of the natural tooth.

The treatment
In the first session, the dentist cleans the cavity and prepares a cavity for the inlay when the cavity is inside the tooth wall, and the onlay when the cavity encompasses one or more tooth walls. An impression is taken to fabricate the Inlay (or Onlay) from a block of ceramic biomaterial.
In the second session, the Inlay (or Onlay) is tried in and fixed in the tooth cavity using adhesives.

Benefits
Mechanical strength is better than that of conventional fillings or resins. The higher-quality seal increases the reliability of the contact point with adjacent teeth and reduces the risk of recurrence of decay.
In the case of large cavities, they make it possible to avoid fitting a dental crown, which is more damaging to the tooth.
