Dental crown
A dental crown is used to rebuild a damaged tooth, whether devitalized or not. When the tooth is devitalized, a post or Inlay Core fixed in the root serves as an anchor for the crown. Although it may be attached to the crown, it is usually independent, so that the tooth can be checked and rehabilitated.

The treatment
During the first session, the dentist prepares the tooth by either devitalising it or not, depending on the clinical situation. If the tooth is devitalized, a post is fixed inside the root. An impression is taken so that the crown can be made. A temporary resin crown is fitted.
The final crown is tried on and then fixed during a second session.
